Alimta Injection is chemotherapy formulation which is known to work by inhibiting the activity of enzymes that are required in the synthesis of purines & pyrimidines. It is indicated for non-small cell lung cancer & pleural mesothelioma. This injection comprises pemetrexed as an active agent having molecular formula C20H21N5O6 with a molar mass of 427.411 g/mol. It is provided in concentrated powder form which is injected intravenously after preparing a solution in sterile water for injection. Alimta Injection shows 81% of protein binding ability with an elimination half-life of about 3.5 hours.
