Active compound present in this capsule gets quickly absorbed through parietal cells of the stomach and exerts therapeutic effects. It works by binding to the H+/K+ ATPase pump and stopping the final step of gastric acid production. Omeprazole Capsule IP shows bioavailability range of 35 to 76% with protein binding ability of 95%. It gets metabolized in the liver with the help of CYP2C19 & CYP3A4 with an elimination half-life of 1 to 1.2 hours and excretion in urine & feces.
